Teacher For A Day Project

Complete your TFAD proposal

Please begin/continue working on your TFAD project.

Here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • You will be in front the class for between 7:30 and 10:00 minutes. That does NOT mean you will be presenting that whole time. You should build in time for your students to discuss the opening question and to do work during your lesson.

  • You will be teaching one and ONLY one item/topic during your lesson.

  • The content of your TFAD Lesson plan should have the same main parts as my lesson plans that we use every day found on my website!

    Opening Question

      • Your goal here is to get your students thinking about your topic as they transition into aerospace class that day.

      • Best opening questions will involve open-ended questions or directions such as:

        • "sketch and label the..."

        • "discuss with your group the ....",

        • "Rate the qualities of the...."

      • Avoid questions that ask for a specific response such as

        • "What was the...?"

        • "How many _____ were there"?

        • "Who was the...?"

    Learning Target/Goal

    • Keep it simple

    • Use student-oriented terms: "I will be able to... during today's class"

    Words O' The Day

    • 1 - 3 vocab words should do it!
    • Keep your definitions short and sweet!

    Work O' The Day

    • How do *you* enjoy learning? Think about lessons you've had in all your school years, what still stays with you? How can you adopt that?

    • Pictures/charts and graphs are ALWAYS helpful!

    • Keep in mind you can (and probably should) have tasks for your students to do during this time.

    • Remember, this is NOT a presentation!
