NOTES ON THE BACKGROUND IMAGE: I took this photo in the winter of 1984 when the Kilauea Volcano was in the second year of it's (still running)eruption.

At that time it was fountaining about 1500 feet. THe foreground shows the full moon illuminating the summit of Mauna Kea following a recent snow storm. Fire and Ice indeed.
